Falling In Love with d'Coffee Shop

一个邻里的咖啡店is one of the best places to people-watch. (people-watch:看人的意思)
妈妈和女儿。爸爸带着一家人吃早点。情侣。外劳。女佣。独自喝咖啡的阿伯。还有那穿着无袖singlet的阳光男孩。

你可以是某公司的主管或一个倒垃圾的阿嫲。。
也可以用福建话或用英式华语来点菜。。

这里是Whatever 的。As in,whatever you wear or speak, there's no ostracizing here.
就是没有人会排挤你。

咖啡店文化是新加坡很重要的一部分。但为什么旅游局没有大力地推广呢?
为什么我们的外国旅客只知道鱼尾狮、圣陶沙、动物园?这些虽然是旅游景点却反映不了新加坡人的生活点滴。

Just imagine a group of tourists are brought to the hot & sweaty kopitiam @ your hse downstairs and made to order their food? Ha, but i think the closest ones they go to are the air-coned foodcourts in shopping malls that serve mediocre char kway teow, fried rice or teh-peng.

或许你小看了你楼下那不起眼的咖啡店,甚至觉得我写这篇文章很无聊。但下一次,请多看一下那位为你捧咖啡的Auntie或隔壁座的那对夫妇。你可能也会开始对咖啡店文化有更深一层的了解。
